HERE IS AN ARTICLE I FOUND

‘Fair’ Warning to Palin

by Robert Knight, Director, Culture and Media Institute

Well, don’t say she hasn’t been warned.

Sarah Palin cannot make even one mistake in Thursday’s debate or she will be cooked.

George Stephanopoulos said so Monday on ABC’s Good Morning America:

Picking up on what Kevin Madden said in David Wright’s piece: Number one for Sarah Palin, she cannot make a mistake. A major mistake particularly on foreign policy would be absolutely fatal to her candidacy.

Good Morning America, like NBC’s Today Show and CBS’ The Early Show, played clips of Tina Fey doing her mocking impersonation of Palin on Saturday Night Live. When did comic impersonations become news?

And what about Palin’s opponent, Joe Biden? What if he makes a gaffe, as he is wont to do? Last week, Biden said in a speech that, “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television” to calm the nation. The stock market crashed in 1929, before TV and before Roosevelt was president.

No problem. The liberal media have Joe’s back and won’t make a big deal of it. Palin made no notable errors last week, yet she was still the one to be savaged. It’s a pity Saturday Night Live can’t remove their ideological blinders. What a great skit Biden might have inspired! Imagine Bill Murray coming back to portray Biden: “It’s just like when George Washington climbed up on a tank to rally the troops at Gettysburg…”

Back to reality. During Thursday’s debate, the press will be listening so hard for a Palin version of “macaca” that they probably won’t even hear what Joe has to say.

“Macaca” was the word that helped sink the re-election campaign of Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen in 2006. He had used the word, which means “monkey” in some African nations, jokingly to describe a Democratic operative tracking his campaign events. Allen said his mother used to call him that when he messed up, the equivalent of “rascal.” No matter. The media decided that because the Democratic staffer was of Indian ancestry, macaca was an openly racist term, just the thing a sitting U.S. Senator would say in a racially diverse state like Virginia. The Washington Post in particular beat up Allen with macaca for the next month, using the term dozens of times. Allen never recovered and Jim Webb narrowly won his Senate seat.

Here’s the rule of thumb: When a liberal misspeaks, it’s a slip of the tongue. We all make mistakes. If you are a conservative, however, you commit an unforgivable sin that must be revisited a thousand times until you are out of Purgatory – or office, whichever comes first.

On Friday, Barack Obama made two mistakes that the media would have used to crucify McCain had he made similar errors.

First, Obama misstated that Henry Kissinger would support meeting enemies like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without preconditions. Even when McCain corrected him, Obama repeated the point. Immediately after the debate, Kissinger issued a statement that rebutted Obama in no uncertain terms. Gotcha! The media’s reaction? Snore. Bury that sucker in reams of copy.

Another suitable moment for carving into a media bat came after John McCain showed his metal bracelet worn in memory of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, who was killed in Iraq. Obama noted that he, too, wore a bracelet for a fallen soldier. Then he forgot the name of Sgt. Ryan David Jopek and had to look down and read it.

It’s not awful, and could happen to anybody, but can anyone honestly imagine that the media would have ignored this had McCain been the forgetful one? Another wrinkle: Jopek’s mother, an Obama supporter who had given him the bracelet, had e-mailed the Obama campaign and asked Obama not to use her son’s name in either speeches or debates. As Newsbusters’ Warner Todd Huston reported, the AP said Sunday that she had, indeed, asked him not to do this, but had been okay with how Obama presented it during the televised debate. Again, imagine what the media would have done had McCain been asked by a parent not to invoke a deceased son’s name and then done so?

CMI just released a new special report, ‘Character’ the Most Important Issue in the Presidential Primary Debates. One striking finding was that the media asked the Democrats nearly twice as many “softball” questions as they asked Republicans. Republicans got 25 percent softballs, Democrats 48 percent.

Being a liberal in a political campaign is a bit like being a cornerback in a fixed football game. He can take cheap shots at receivers all day, knowing the referees will never call him on it. Or the favored quarterback can throw all the bombs he wants, knowing that if one is picked off, the refs will find a way to nullify the play.

Sarah Palin had better be on her game Thursday, because the scribes are sharpening their poison pens and polishing their gun sights, otherwise known as cameras. They’ll be ready to draw more blood than a bite from an Alaskan mosquito.

As for Joe, he can take comfort in the knowledge that his next gaffe won’t have a long shelf life, and that he can sit back, Biden his time.

I DO NOT GET INTO MUCH ABOUT POLITICS FRANKLY I REALLY DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT IT. BUT FOUND THIS INTERESTING. I ALSO WANT TO AD THAT I AM BEHIND JOHN MCCAIN AND PALIN ALTHOUGH PERSONALLY WELL NEVER MIND I DON'T WANT TO START ANY ARGUEMENTS.

MY STRONG TOWER

IF EVER I HAVE NEEDED A STRONG TOWER IT IS NOW. I KEEP THINKING OVER AND OVER OF THE VERSE THAT SAYS THE NAME OF THE LORD IS A STRONG TOWER THE RIGHTEOUS RUN INTO IT AND ARE SAVED. OK MAYBE NOT A EXACT QUOTE OR IS THAT A SONG NOT SURE. BUT IT HAS BEEN GOING OVER AND OVER IN MY MIND THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS.

THE LAST FEW DAYS HAVE BROUGHT A LOT OF FEAR INTO MY MIND AND HAS CAUSED MANY PANIC ATTACKS. KINDA A BLAST FROM THE PAST BUT NOT IS A GOOD WAY. PANIC TRIED TO KEEP ME HOME TODAY BUT I WAS ABLE TO GO TO CHURCH.

I HAVE TO CONFESS HERE. I HAVE BEEN READING AND READING AND PRAYING ALOT HERE THIS WEEKEND ABOUT A SITUATION THAT CAME UP HERE. BUT AS MUCH AS I TAKE COMFORT IN THE WORD IT HAS BEEN GOOD JUST TO TALK IN EMAILS TO A COUPLE OF PASTORS I KNOW AND THE WIFE OF ONE. SOMETIMES I HOPE THIS IS NOT WRONG TO SAY. BUT I BELIEVE IN READING THE WORD AS MUCH AS ANYONE, BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO TALK. BEING ALONE HERE SO MUCH I DON'T GET MUCH OF A CHANCE TO DO THAT. EXCEPT WHEN I TALK VIA EMAIL AND OF COURSE I TALK TO CHIP YES I TALK TO MY BIRD . HE DOES NOT GOSSIP. I AM HAVING A HARDER TIME WITH THIS THAN I WANT TO ADMIT. I HAD NIGHTMARES OF THE PAST LAST NIGHT ALL BECAUSE SOMEONE SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE. WELL ANYWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO THINK I AM STRONGER THAN I AM. THIS HAS REALLY SHATTERED MY NERVES. OK I WILL STOP RAMBLING NOW.

RELIGOUS COMPOUND RAIDED FOR CHILD PORN

By JON GAMBRELL, Associated Press Writer

FOUKE, Ark. (Associated Press) -- Federal authorities conducting a child-porn investigation raided the headquarters Saturday of a ministry run by a convicted tax evader once labeled by prosecutors as a polygamist who preys on girls and women.

Social workers interviewed children who live at the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries complex, which critics call a cult, to find out whether they were abused. The two-year investigation involves a law that prohibits the transportation of children across state lines for criminal activity, said Tom Browne, who runs the FBI office in Little Rock.

"Children living at the facility may have been sexually and physically abused," Browne said.

The raid, conducted by state and federal authorities, started an hour before sunset at the complex in tiny Fouke, in southwestern Arkansas. Armed guards regularly patrol the headquarters, but there was no resistance as agents moved in, state police said.

No one was arrested, but U.S. Attorney Bob Balfe said before the raid that he expected an arrest warrant for Alamo to be issued later. The federal investigation centered on the production of child pornography, while state police were looking into allegations of other child abuse, he said.

In a phone call to The Associated Press from a friend's house in the Los Angeles area, Tony Alamo _ who was also once accused of child abuse _ denied involvement in pornography.

"We don't go into pornography; nobody in the church is into that," Alamo said. "Where do these allegations stem from? The anti-Christ government. The Catholics don't like me because I have cut their congregation in half. They hate true Christianity."

About 100 state and federal law officers raided the 15-acre compound housing the ministry, which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a cult that opposes homosexuality, Catholicism and the government. The law center monitors the activities of extremist groups in the U.S.

The ministry's Web site says it is "dedicated to spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the winning of souls worldwide."

John Selig, head of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, said state workers were talking to children.

A passenger van with about 12 people inside left the compound heading for Texarkana with a police escort shortly after 8 p.m. It appeared some of those inside were children, but Selig said he didn't know whether any children would be taken into state custody.

Police said the Alamo church complex would be allowed to open for Sunday services, although officers did not indicate when the search would end.

Alamo's church is in a single-story building that used to be a convenience store. A white cross stands atop the structure, with a small steeple to the right side.

Alamo and his wife Susan were street preachers along Hollywood's Sunset Strip in 1966 before forming a commune near Saugus, Calif. Susan Alamo died of cancer in 1982 and Alamo claimed she would be resurrected and kept her body on display for six months while their followers prayed.

In 1988, following a raid near Santa Ana, Calif., three boys whose mothers were Alamo followers were placed in the custody of their fathers. Justin Miller, then 11, told police that Alamo directed four men to strike him 140 times with a wooden paddle as punishment for minor offenses. Alamo was charged with child abuse.

The California Attorney General's office eventually cleared Alamo and his followers of the accusations.

In 1991, federal agents raided Alamo's complex near Alma and seized designer jackets the ministry sold to raise money; former Alamo followers had won a $1.8 million judgment against him. At the same time, the IRS said Alamo owed the government $7.9 million and later won the evangelist's conviction in federal court.

The judge in the tax case ordered him held pending sentencing after prosecutors argued that the evangelist was a flight risk and a polygamist who preyed on married women and girls in his congregation. U.S. District Judge Jon McCalla said he was concerned over "the very great control Mr. Alamo has over a number of people."

Alamo told the AP on Saturday that he believed the raid was part of a push by the federal government to make same-sex marriage legal while outlawing polygamy.

Alamo said he thought polygamy was allowed in the Bible but said he did not practice it himself. He also said that "consent is puberty" when it comes to sex.

There had been complaints about the ministry since Alamo arrived in Fouke in the late 1990s, said Terry Purvis, mayor of the town of about 850 residents. He has gotten calls from former ministry members with allegations of child abuse, polygamy and underage marriage, he said.

Purvis said he turned over all the complaints to the FBI.

THE LOVE OF GOD

LITTLE HISTORY OF THIS SONG
~The Love of God (1)

Frederick M. Lehman, author and composer, wrote a pamphlet, in 1948, entitled History of the Song, The Love of God. It tells about the origin of this beloved hymn—

While at camp-meeting in a mid-western state, some fifty years ago in our early ministry, an evangelist climaxed his message by quoting the last stanza of this song. The profound depths of the line moved us to preserve the words for future generations.

Not until we had come to California did this urge find fulfillment, and that at a time when circumstances forced us to hard manual labor.

One day, during short intervals of inattention to our work, we picked up a scrap of paper and, seated upon an empty lemon box pushed against the wall, with a stub pencil, added the (first) two stanzas and chorus of the song.

Since the lines (3rd stanza from the Jewish poem) had been found penciled on the wall of a patient’s room in an insane asylum, the general opinion was that this inmate had written the epic in moments of sanity.

Actually, the key-stanza (third verse) under question as to its authorship was written nearly one thousand years ago by a Jewish songwriter, and put on the score page by F.M. Lehman, a Gentile songwriter, in 1917.

The Love of God

(1) The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell;

It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell;

The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;

His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

CHORUS:

O love of God, how rich and pure!

How measureless and strong!

It shall for evermore endure

The saints' and angels' song.

(2) When years of time shall pass away, And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,

When men, who here refuse to pray, On rocks and hills and mountains call,

God's love so sure, shall still endure, All measureless and strong;

Redeeming grace to Adam's race-The saints' and angels' song.

(3) Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made,

Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade,

To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry.

Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.

~The Love of God (2)

The beloved hymn The Love of God had its roots in a long Jewish poem written in the eleventh century in Germany.

The Jewish poem, Hadamut, in the Aramaic language, has ninety couplets. The poem itself is in the form of an acrostic. It was composed, in the year 1096, by Rabbi Mayer, son of Isaac Nehorai, who was a cantor in the city of Worms, Germany.

The Hadamut poem also speaks of a certain miracle. There are three opinions as to the contents of this miracle.

The first opinion is that the miracle was the giving of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Incidentally, it is for this reason that the poem is still read on the first day of the Feast of Shavuot before the reading of the Ten Commandments.

The second opinion simply states that we really cannot know with certainty, from the references, what the actual miracle was.

The third opinion believes that the miracle took place in the city of Worms, home of the rabbi-poet. It is thought that there was a medieval, German priest who once spoke evil of the Jewish community.

The king called upon the Jews of the city to produce a representative to argue and defend themselves against the priest. If the Jewish spokesman was successful, then the Jewish community would be spared mass genocide. But if the anti-Jewish priest proved successful, then all of the Jewish community of Worms would be put to death.

The story has a happy ending, as the Jewish representative was successful in the defense of their faith, and the community of Worms was spared.

Throughout the poem, the theme of God’s eternal love and concern for His people is evident. One section of this poem, from which the present third stanza of The Love of God was evidently adapted, reads as follows:

Were the sky of parchment made,

A quill each reed, each twig and blade,

Could we with ink the oceans fill,

Were every man a scribe of skill,

The marvelous story, Of God’s great glory

Would still remain untold; For He, most high

The earth and sky Created alone of old.

UNKNOWN MOZART FRAGMENT FOUND

Unknown Mozart fragment found in French library

By ANGELA DOLAND – 1 hour ago

PARIS (AP) — It's a forgotten melody, sketched in black ink in a swift but sure hand. The single manuscript page, long hidden in a provincial French library, has been verified as the work of Mozart, the apparent underpinnings for a Mass he never composed.

The previously undocumented music fragment gives insight into Mozart's evolving composition style and provides a clue about the role religion may have played for the composer as his life neared its turbulent end, one prominent Mozart expert says.

A library in Nantes, western France, has had the fragment in its collection since the 19th century, but it had never been authenticated until now, partly because it does not bear Mozart's signature.

Ulrich Leisinger, head of research at the International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria, said Thursday that there is no doubt that the single sheet, the top third of which has been cut off, was written by the composer.

"His handwriting is absolutely clearly identifiable," he added. "There's no doubt that this is an original piece handwritten by Mozart."

Leisinger said the work had been "entirely forgotten." Such a find is rare: The last time unknown music in Mozart's handwriting came to light was in 1996, when a portion of an aria was sold at Christie's, Leisinger said.

The library does not plan to sell, but if it did, the single sheet would likely be worth around $100,000, the expert said. In all, only about 100 such examples of musical drafts by Mozart are known.

There have been up to 10 Mozart discoveries of such importance over the past 50 years, Leisinger said.

The sheet was bequeathed to Nantes' library by a collector in the 19th century, along with one letter from Mozart as well as one from his father. Both the letters were published in Mozart's complete correspondence, said Agnes Marcetteau, director of Nantes' municipal library.

In an annotation dated Aug. 18, 1839, Aloys Fuchs, a well-respected autograph hunter who collected works from more than 1,500 musicians, authenticated that the handwriting was that of "W.A. Mozart."

But strangely, the work never attracted much attention, partly because it did not bear Mozart's signature and partly because the catalog notation about it was extremely brief and bland, Leisinger said.

The library contacted Leisinger to authenticate the work last year.

Some of the first part of the fragment is in D minor, while the second is in D major and marked "Credo" — a major clue that the work is a sketch for a Mass, which typically includes such a movement, said Robert D. Levin, a professor at Harvard University who is well-known for completing unfinished works by Mozart.

Circumstantial evidence, including the type of paper, suggests Mozart did not write the material before 1787, said Leisinger. Mozart died in 1791 at the age of 35.

"What this sketch leaf confirms in a most vivid way is Mozart's true interest in writing church music toward the end of his life," Levin said.

Mozart had planned to become the choir and music director of Vienna's main cathedral, although he died before he could take up the post. But because Mozart had become a Freemason, some have questioned the sincerity of his interest in religious composition at that period of his life, Leisinger said.

Mozart's famous Requiem, unfinished at his death, was commissioned by a mysterious benefactor. But the rediscovered fragment likely stemmed from inspiration alone and suggests "to a certain degree that being a Freemason and a Roman Catholic was not a real contradiction" in Mozart's eyes, Leisinger said.

For anyone who wants to try sight-reading the fragment, a bit of detective work is required. Musicians must work out the key signature and clef based on other clues in the music. The tempo is also mysterious. And there is no orchestration.

"It's a melody sketch, so what's missing is the harmony and the instrumentation, but you can make sense out of it," Leisinger said. "The tune is complete."

Philip Gossett, a music historian and a professor in music at the University of Chicago, urged caution about interpreting the fragment.

"It is certainly not something that can just be scored up and played as Mozart's," he said.

Nonetheless, modern-day composers are going to take a crack at an orchestration. And in January of next year, the Nantes library says, Mozart's 18th century Mass is expected to have its first performance.

Memorizing Scripture

Ok, I have taken on the job of trying to memorize some verses. My first goal is to memorize Eph 3:14-21.

Pray for me, my memory is really bad, but when attacks of the enemy comes I want weapons to fight with, and scripture is the weapons we have against the devil and if I don't have it in my heart how can I fight.

I seriously do have a real problem with memory. I think maybe some of it is from medications I don't know really, But I can get lost in my own neighborhood. I can not remember things at all. So doing this will be a challenge but one that I want to take on.
Others I want to memorize down the line are.

Phil 4:4-13
Is 40:28-31
Psalm 139
Proverbs 3:5-6
llCor 10:3-5
Col 3:15_16
Psalm 91

ANy other suggestions are welcome...it just may take me awhile to get to them,

If anyone has any hints on how to memorize I am open to that as well.

Song For Mrs Okie Preacher

Mrs Okie

We love you and are praying for you in all these changes. Maryb

STAND UP AND PRAISE HIM

THIS WAS IN MY DEVOTIONS FOR TODAY

NEH 9:5B
"Stand up and praise the LORD your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting. "
"Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise

Thoughts
Phil Ware "Stand up and shout it if you love my Jesus..." That's a song our children love to sing! But what happens to that youthful exuberance and joy at worshiping the Lord? God doesn't want us to lose it. Read through the Bible and highlight all the physical acts used to reverence and praise our awesome and eternal God. In a world which regularly uses God's name in vain, isn't it time we stood up and praised him -- not only in church (our private worship) and in our daily devotionals (our personal worship), but also in our lives every day (our public worship)?!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I find it incomprehensible that an eternal and almighty God would choose to listen to my prayers. Yet I know you do hear them and respond to them. Thank you! Please receive my praise in my worship, whether I offer it in private with other Christians, in my daily personal worship or in my public worship as I live as an example before my coworkers. You alone are God and worthy of all praise, please receive the praise I seek to offer you in my life as well as through my words. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

I WANT TO PRAY THIS DAY AND NIGHT TIL I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW

Ephesians 3:14-21 (New King James Version)
New King James Version (NKJV)

Appreciation of the Mystery

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

I HEARD A SERMON ON THIS TONIGHT AND I WANT THIS TO BE MY PRAYER DAILY. ONLY I CHANGE YOU AND YOUR TO ME MY AND I

THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD LET CHIP THIS CLOSE TO A CAT

BACK TO WHAT THIS BLOG STARTED OUT TO BE.

I decided tonight to just journal somethings, that is what this blog started out to be. so tonight that is what I am going to do.

Depression has really tried to take over today. But I have just been reading bible verses to myself when I was not working. I try to memorize them but I just don't have the focus or concentration to do that,, that is one of the symptoms of depression. Which most of you know I have been fighting for a long time. Alot of it comes from my past as much as I try to put it all behind me and press on to things ahead. If you have never read my testimony it is on here a couple of the first post ever made here.

The last few weeks, have been an nightmare for me. It has been probably some of the worse couple of weeks ever. But I don't want to sound like a double minded person or something, but Even though is some of the roughest times the last couple of weeks I know God was there.

LIke the old song says I don't know about tomorrow, but I know who hold tomorrow. or as bill gaither would say Because He Lives I can face tomorrow.

Sorry Pastor Steve it is Southern Gospel.... hey I wonder If I could play piano for a gospel group. I played for the Detroit Symphony Why not a southern gospel group maybe I should Call Bill Gaither....... :-) Ok Kidding on that part.

Anyway , I do know who hold tomorrow. It seems like sometimes I don't but I really do. I hate it when depression takes over and gets my mind off the one who made the mind. Ok Im rambling but I felt like talking and there is no one to talk to right now so I put it on here. I know also that when I get tired the worse the depression gets but I cant sleep lately. I lay down and try to even take sleeping pills but it does not help. anyway enough ranting for now.

BTW,,, I am starting 2 new students this week PRAISE THE LORD.
