DES MOINES, Iowa (Associated Press) -- Iowa's Supreme Court unanimously struck down the state's gay marriage ban on Friday, making Iowa the third state where same-sex couples can tie the knot.

In its decision, the court upheld a 2007 district court judge's ruling that the law violates the state constitution. It strikes the language from Iowa code limiting marriage to only between a man a woman.

"The court reaffirmed that a statute inconsistent with the Iowa constitution must be declared void even though it may be supported by strong and deep-seated traditional beliefs and popular opinion," said a summary of the ruling issued by the court.

The ruling set off celebration among the state's gay-marriage proponents.

"Iowa is about justice, and that's what happened here today," said Laura Fefchak, who was hosting a verdict party in the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale with partner of 13 years, Nancy Robinson.

Robinson added: "To tell the truth, I didn't think I'd see this day."

Richard Socarides, an attorney and former senior adviser on gay rights to President Clinton, said the ruling carries extra significance coming from Iowa.

"It's a big win because, coming from Iowa, it represents the mainstreaming of gay marriage. And it shows that despite attempts stop gay marriage through right-wing ballot initiatives, like in California, the courts will continue to support the case for equal rights for gays," he said.

It's opponents were equally as dismayed.

"I would say the mood is one of mourning right now in a lot of ways, and yet the first thing we did after internalizing the decision was to walk across the street and begin the process of lobbying our legislators to let the people of Iowa vote," said Bryan English, spokesman for the conservative group the Iowa Family Policy Center.

"This is an issue that will define (lawmakers') leadership. This is not a side issue."

The Rev. Keith Ratliff Sr., pastor at the Maple Street Baptist Church in Des Moines, went to the Supreme Court building to hear of the decision.

"It's a perversion and it opens the door to more perversions," Ratliff said. "What's next?"

Technically, the decision will take about 21 days to be considered final and a request for a rehearing could be filed within that period.

But Polk County Attorney John Sarcone said his office will not ask for a rehearing, meaning the court's decision should take effect after that three-week period.

"Our Supreme Court has decided it, and they make the decision as to what the law is and we follow Supreme Court decisions," Sarcone said. "This is not a personal thing. We have an obligation to the law to defend the recorder, and that's what we do."

That means it will be at least several weeks before gay and lesbian couples can seek marriage licenses.

Gov. Chet Culver, a Democrat, said the decision addresses a complicated and emotional issue.

"The next responsible step is to thoroughly review this decision, which I am doing with my legal counsel and the attorney general, before reacting to what it means for Iowa," Culver said in a statement.

The case had been working its way through Iowa's court system since 2005 when Lambda Legal, a New York-based gay rights organization, filed a lawsuit on behalf of six gay and lesbian Iowa couples who were denied marriage licenses. Some of their children are also listed as plaintiffs.

The suit named then-Polk County recorder and registrar Timothy Brien.

The state Supreme Court's ruling upheld an August 2007 decision by Polk County District Court Judge Robert Hanson, who found that a state law allowing marriage only between a man and a woman violates the state's constitutional rights of equal protection.

The Polk County attorney's office, arguing on behalf of Brien, claimed that Hanson's ruling violates the separation of powers and said the issue should be left to the Legislature.

Lambda Legal planned to comment on the ruling later Friday. A request for comment from the Polk County attorney's office wasn't immediately returned.

Around the nation, only Massachusetts and Connecticut permit same-sex marriage. California, which briefly allowed gay marriage before a voter initiative in November repealed it, allows domestic partnerships.

New Jersey, New Hampshire and Vermont also offer civil unions, which provide many of the same rights that come with marriage. New York recognizes same-sex marriages performed elsewhere, and legislators there and in New Jersey are weighing whether to offer marriage. A bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in Vermont has cleared the Legislature but may be vetoed by the governor.

The ruling in Iowa's same-sex marriage case came more quickly than many observers had anticipated, with some speculating after oral arguments that it could take a year or more for a decision.

Obama heads to California for town-hall meetings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — President Barack Obama heads to California today, where he will preside over a couple of town hall-style meetings and become the first incumbent chief executive to appear on "The Tonight Show." The visit comes at a time when California is being hit hard economically.

The state that is home to one in eight Americans has been ravaged by recession, a housing meltdown and double-digit unemployment. The public is seething over $165 million in post-bailout bonuses paid to executives at American International Group Inc. — an issue certain to overshadow the two-day visit.

His first appearance as president in a state that was a getaway for his predecessors could instead become a political test for Obama, whose administration has been trying to find its voice on the economy. His schedule includes a stop on Jay Leno's stage in Burbank after town hall-style meetings in Orange County on Wednesday and downtown Los Angeles on Thursday.

With the furor over the AIG bonuses, "if he doesn't have some really good answers, this could be a nightmare. It's not going to be enough to say, 'I feel your anger and we are looking into it,'" said University of California, Berkeley, political scientist Bruce Cain. "There has to be some sort of decisive action."

Judy Chen-Lee, a laid-off job counselor for the city of Santa Ana, has a ticket for the Orange County event and hopes to press the president about getting people back to work.

The economic stimulus money should be "dedicated to those most in need, who need jobs and retraining," she said. "The AIG situation is sad. There needs to be accountability."

Normally, a trip to the Democratic-leaning state would represent a welcome respite for a Democratic president. Clinton was here more than 70 times during his presidency, often to attend lavish political fundraisers with his golf clubs in tow.

Obama, who spent his early college years in California, won a 24-point victory here in November and his administration is thick with Californians.

National surveys show Obama remains personally popular, despite some unease over policy. But recent polls confirm the obvious: At a time of economic stress residents are anxious, frayed. California is at the center of the mortgage crisis, and the number of residents fleeing the nation's most populous state has been rising.

The state will be a key to any national recovery; California on its own is the world's eighth-largest economy. Obama's green jobs agenda is similar to ideas being pushed in California.

His stop on Leno's couch will mark the first time a sitting president has hit the late-night talk show circuit. Leno is known for banter and laughs, not grilling politicians, so it will give Obama a deferential platform to talk about the economy. The show has about 5 million viewers — a Main Street audience mostly beyond the Beltway.

The message on the economy has appeared to shift. During the fall presidential campaign, Obama relentlessly criticized his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, for declaring, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong."

But last weekend, a White House adviser said the economy is fundamentally sound despite the temporary "mess." Just a week ago, Peter Orszag, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, declared that "fundamentally, the economy is weak." Days later, Obama told reporters he was confident in the economy.

How much Obama — or any president — can do during an economic slowdown is always in question.

"The economy everywhere is in big trouble, and these are problems that started long before he came into office," said Christopher Thornberg of Beacon Economics in Los Angeles. "Obama doesn't walk on water. He can't wave a magic wand and fix all that."

When Reagan occupied the White House, his first Air Force One trip was to California for a weekend at his ranch in the Santa Ynez mountains northwest of Los Angeles. When Nixon was in office, his seaside home in San Clemente became known as the Western White House, a hideaway during a turbulent presidency.

Obama is popular in reliably Democratic Hollywood, and money from the entertainment industry helped finance the richest campaign in presidential history.

When asked whether Obama planned to meet with any celebrities on his visit, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro declined comment.

AN URGENT MESSAGE
I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE - EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.

WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD’S PEOPLE?

First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).

I will say to my soul: No need to run...no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.

Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

MY NEPHEW TIM WAS TRANSFERED TO A NURSING HOME TO DO REHAB. BUT NOW HIS PNUEMONIA HAS COME BACK AND SO HAS THE STAPH INFECTION. HE IS BACK IN THE HOSPITAL. HIS BODY IS ALL SWOLLEN. PLEASE KEEP HIM IN PRAYER

Puppies for Sale

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell.

He painted a sign Advertising the 20 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.

As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy. "Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat of the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle "Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt.

The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said,

"You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."

WENT TO A NEW CHURCH TODAY

I went to a New Church today. It is called Living Water Christian Fellowship it is a Calvary Chapel here in San Juan Capistrano . I was surprised and grateful to see how many people I know that go there. Several people from my old church Calvary Laguna go there so I was able to sit with people I know which really helped on the panic issue side of it.

The pastor was not there, His Father in law passed away this week. Which I found out his Father in law is John Gordy he use to be a linebacker for the Detroit Lions. way back when…. He was 73 when he died… so they were not there. but I look forward to hearing him next week.

The assistant pastor spoke, he spoke on making sure we are building our lives on a firm foundation. It was really good.

Well thank God new church and No panic attack,,,,,

Dont know if i will continue to go there but it was a really good experience.

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.'
Lucky was a real
Character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a

Would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open
Because Lucky would

Someone would forget
And something would come up missing.
Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement
And there the
Treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer.
Something told her
She was going to die of this disease.... In fact; she was

Before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with
Lucky. A thought
Struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the
Three-year-old dog
Liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I
Die, Lucky will be
Abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I
Didn't want to leave
Him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own
Death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors
Had anticipated
And Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took
Lucky for his evening
Walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining
And miserable.
Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When
She arrived home,
Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the
Steps to her bedroom.
Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to
Nap. Lucky stood
Watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she
Called. It made Mary sad
But sleep soon overcame her and she dozed.

When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand
What was wrong. She
Couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot.
But panic soon gave
Way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was
Covered, literally
Blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had
Slept, the
Sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement
Bringing his beloved
Mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered
Her with his love.
Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living
Again, walking
Further and further together every day.

It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free.
Lucky? He still steals

Well it seems that when God desires to do a new thing, things get stirred up a bit. We are in a turmol here and need your prayers:

1. Rachel is not doing well. She went to the ER the other night and is really struggeling with living with her depression for the rest of her life. (Those of us who struggle with this clearly understand). My heart breaks for my daughter. If I could take her place, I would in an instant; yet I don't need to for Jesus already did.

2. My younger daugter Naomi has completely backslid. She is verbally attacking Rachel, her mother and I, and has even moved her attacks to the internet. Again, my heart breaks because she is running from the call of God on her life. She has been blinded by the enemy and the life that is in her is being choked out by the cares of this world.

3. The oil business has colapased. The company I work for is suffering and considering how to survive. As of yet, I don't know what this means for us, but God is faithful!

4. We are praying about a major change in our lives, of which I cannot go into detail.

So, please pray for us, wht we would hear His voice and do His will.

Also, I ask for special prayer for my friend Bill Walden. I can't go into detail, but God knows.

I am a bit discouraged right now. Got some bad news about my Nephew Tim the incision where they amputated both feet now has black around them and they may have to amputate higher up his legs. the infection has come back his fevers are 103 … also there is heart valve damage and as soon as they can get the infection under control they will have to replace the heart vavle… and the dr said that the infection is in his heart… I would appreciate that those of you who have my facebook please do not talk about it on there I have family on my facebook who has not been notified yet. so he has taken a bit of a turn for the worse….thank you for your prayers.

YOU KNOW TODAY I HAVE BEEN DEPRESSED. WHY I DON'T KNOW I REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY REASON TO BE DEPRESSED. I HAVE NOT HAD A DAY OF DEPRESSION LIKE THIS IN A LONG TIME,

I GET FRUSTRATED SOMETIMES BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE TELL ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE THE JOY OF THE LORD AND NOT BE DEPRESSED. I DO HAVE THE JOY KNOWING MY SINS ARE FORGIVEN AND THAT I HAVE A ETERNAL HOME WITH JESUS. I AM HAPPY WHAT GOD IS DOING IN MY NEPHEWS LIFE AND THAT OF HIS WIFE AND KIDS. BUT TODAY I STILL FIND MYSELF DEPRESSED. SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT I WAS UNGRATEFUL FOR WHAT GOD HAS DONE LATELY BY ALLOWING MYSELF TO BE DEPRESSED. SO NOW THAT JUST MADE ME FEEL GUILTY.

I DON'T WANT TO BE UNGRATEFUL, AND HONESTLY DON'T THINK I AM. ANYONE WHO DEALS WITH DEPRESSION ON A DAILY BASIS AS I DO, KNOWS THAT YOU CAN NOT ALWAYS HELP THE WAY YOU FEEL. I DO ALL THE THINGS I KNOW TO DO AND THAT IS TO FEED GODS WORD INTO MY SPIRIT. SO TODAY I HAVE BEEN READING THE WORD WHEN I WAS NOT WORKING. I KNOW THAT EVEN IF I AM DEPRESSED IT GETS INTO MY SPIRIT.

I JUST HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO LAY TRIPS ON ME. I KNOW WHERE MY HEART IS WITH GOD AND I KNOW THAT I ALSO HAVE A DEPRESSION PROBLEM AND MOST DAYS DON'T GIVE INTO IT. BUT SOME DAYS IT IS JUST HARD. HERE IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING TODAY, IT IS A HELP SINCE THE NIGHTMARES HAVE COME BACK AS WELL.

Prayer for a friend...
On July 9, 2008, I posted the following from my friend Ralph Derickson:

"My Brother, this has been a very sad day ....we just got back from Dr. and were told that the cancer has returned in Carolyn's body, the prognosis is not very good, if the cancer is in one location he said that surgery & chemo were going to be necessary, however if it was spread out over several areas then only chemo would be done, we are awaiting a phone call from them, to tell us where & when a PET scan would be done, we will know more after that happens & a meeting with her Dr. to find out what he plans on doing.

He plainly told us that it was not curable, but perhaps they would be able to just manage it, But you know what....I know a Jewish Carpenter who can make it go away with just a flick of his finger, please join me & ask your Church to join me in asking HIM to just flick his finger....please Lord I'm begging you ..."

I got a phone call from Ralph just a few minutes ago. The results of Carolyn's most recent PET scan show that there in no cancer anywhere in her body.

MY SISTER CALLED TODAY AND TOLD ME THAT TIM WAS OUT OF ICU AND OFF THE RESPIRATOR I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT GOD IS DOING IN TEXAS. TIM IS IN GOOD SPIRITS. HE CAN EAT AND DRINK ON HIS OWN NOW. OUR GOD IS TRULY AN AWESOME GOD. WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH OF IF ANY DAMAGE WAD DONE TO HIS HEART FROM THE INFECTION, WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE. I CAN NOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH FOR YOUR PRAYERS FOR TIM, I CAN HARDLY WAIT TIL I CAN GO TO TEXAS AND SEE HIM, HE HAS A LONG ROAD HE WILL HAVE TO GET FITTED FOR ARTIFICAL FEET SINCE HIS WERE AMPUTATED FROM THE INFECTION, BUT HE IS ALIVE AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THAT.

A former youth pastor for the Capo Beach Calvary Church was arrested Thursday at his Dana Point home for allegedly having sex with a girl who was part of his junior high school ministry.

Daniel Pedroza Jr., 28, allegedly had sex with a girl between the ages of 14 and 18, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The girl told social workers she and Pedroza had sex between July and November in both of their homes, and the social workers contacted authorities.

Officials at the Capistrano Beach church became aware of the allegation and fired Pedroza, Amormino said.

Prosecutors plan to charge Pedroza with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, two counts of oral copulation, one count of digital penetration, and a misdemeanor charge of child annoying, Amormino said.

A spokesperson for the church could not be reached for comment.

Pedroza was booked into the Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The Staph Infection has hit his heart and there is major damage to the heart
valves. they can not operate to repair them it would be fatal for sure. They are
going to try to drain some of the infections near his lungs to help him breathe
easier. His white blood cells did drop some which is good they were way to
high. still classified as critical and now with a 10 to 30 percent chance of
making it. he is still on life support and in a coma .

WELL HIS FEET TURNED ALL BLACK AND THEY HAD TO AMPUTATE BOTH FEET FROM THE ANKLE DOWN. RIGHT NOW TIM HAS A 30 TO 50 PERCENT CHANCE OF MAKING IT HE IS ON A RESPERATOR . HE IS IN FORTH WORTH TEXAS. Back From Orphanage

We had a great time yesterday and all the kids got shoes. We were able to get 92 kids a pair of tennis shoes for school. They were all so happy since all the usually get is hand me downs. I wish that all the Orange County kids could down and see how these kids live. I think it would make a big difference in all there whinning because maybe they dont have the latest video game or lasted I pod or things like that. These kids still go outside and play.. they play ball, jump rope. tag hide and go seek . and they are happy just to have a place to call home.

It was raining and cold there yesterday, so I did not go outside much i stayed in the big room with a lot of the kids I did not want to risk getting sick again, I just got my voice back and did not want to end up down again. but we had fun i colored pictures and listened as the kids laughed at me at my poor attempt to read to them in spanish, they finally ended up reading to me not that I understood it but it was fun to just to have them crawl up in my lap and read.

I do not have the word to express how much I love these kids. My heart hurts when I have to leave them.

Well all in all we had a good time.

GOING TO ORPHANAGE

TRIP TO URGENT CARE

WELL HE SENT ME TO URGENT CARE NOT THE EMERGENCY ROOM, AND THEY TOOK A CHEST XRAY AND YOU GUESSED IT I HAVE PNUEMONIA OK I DID NOT SPELL THAT RIGHT, ANYWAY THEY PUT ME ON SOME DIFFERENT MEDS. HE SAID MY LUNGS ARE VERY CONGESTED NOT BAD ENOUGH TO BE IN THE HOSPITAL BUT HE SAID YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL OR YOU WILL BE.

PLEASE PRAY, I HAVE A PIANO RECITAL ON SATURDAY OF MY STUDENTS AND IT WOULD NOT BE GOOD IF THE TEACHER WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND NOT AT THE RECITAL. MY NIECES HAVE ALREADY SAID THEY WILL DO ALL THE TALKING AT THE RECITAL LIKE INTRODUCING THE STUDENTS ETC. This is a request for prayer for YWAM missionaries and their churches in Orissa, India. The request came from her friend, Mable Hurst, an associate

Dear beloved sponsors and friends of Good News India,
We have never seen anything like this. We knew that Orissa was the most resistant and hostile State in India as far as the Gospel is concerned. And we brushed off the continuous threats and harassment we faced as we went about His work. But none of our staff imagined that they would see this kind of carnage.... And it seems to be totally under the radar of the Western Media..... Let me explain.... A militant Hindu priest and 4 of his attendants, who were zealously going around the villages of Orissa and re- converting people back to Hinduism, were gunned down by unknown assailant Orissa last weekend. Immediately the Christians were blamed. The cry rose up...'Kill the Christians!' And the horror began....
In the past 4 days, we have first hand witness to hundreds of churches being blown up or burned and many, many dozens of Christian tribals have been slaughtered. For no other reason than they bear the name of Christ. Night and day I have been in touch with our Good News India Directors spread across 14 Dream Centers in Orissa... they are right in the middle of all this chaos. In Tihidi, just after the police came to offer protection, a group of 70 blood-thirsty militants came to kill our staff and destroy the home. They were not allowed to get in, but they did a lot of damage to our Dream Center by throwing rocks and bricks and smashing our gate, etc. They have promised to come back and 'finish the job'. Our kids and staff are locked inside and have stayed that way with doors and windows shut for the past 3 days. It has been a time of desperately calling on the Lord in prayer. More police have come to offer protection. In Kalahandi, the police and some local sympathizers got to our dream center and gave our staff and kids about 3 minutes notice to vacate. No one had time to even grab a change of clothes or any personal belonging. As they fled, the blood thirsty mob came into the building. We would have had a mass funeral there, but for His grace. In Phulbani, the mob came looking for Christian homes and missions. The local Hindu people, our neighbors turned them away by saying that there were no Christians in this area. So they left. We had favor. The same thing happened in Balasore. All our dream centers are under lock down with the kids and staff huddled inside and police outside. The fanatics are circling outside waiting for a
chance to kill. Others were not so fortunate. In a nearby Catholic orphanage, the mob allowed the kids to leave and locked up a Priest and a computer teacher in house and burned them to death. Many believers have been killed and hacked into pieces and left on the road.... even women and children. At another orphanage run by another organization, when this began, the Director and his wife jumped on their motorbike and simply fled, leaving all the children and staff behind. Every one of our GNI directors that I have spoken to said: 'We stay with our kids.... we live together or die together, but we will never abandon what God has called us to do' More than 5000 Christian families have had their homes burned or destroyed. They have fled into the jungles and are living in great fear waiting for the authorities to bring about peace. But so far, no peace is foreseen. This will continue for another 10 days....supposedly the 14 day mourning period for the slain Hindu priest. Many more Christians will die and their houses destroyed. Many more churches will be smashed down. The Federal government is trying to restore order and perhaps things will calm down We ask for your prayers. Only the Hand of God can calm this storm. None of us know the meaning of persecution. But now our kids and staff know what that means. So many of our kids com ing from Hindu backgrounds are confused and totally bewildered at what is happening around them. So many of their guardians have fled into the jungles and are unable to come and get them during these trying times. Through all this, I am more determined than ever to continue with our goal: the transformation of a community by transforming its children. Orissa will be saved... that is our heart's cry. If we can take these thousands of throw-away children and help them to become disciples of Jesus, they will transform an entire region. It is a long term goal, but it is strategic thinking in terms of the Great Commission. What can you do? First, please uphold all this in fervent prayer. Second, pass this e-mail on to as many friends as you can. We must get the word out and increase our prayer base for this is spiritual warfare at its most basic meaning. We are literally fighting the devil in order to live for His Kingdom. The next 10 days are crucial. We pray for peace and calm to pervade across Orissa. Thank you for taking the time to read this. My sister and my niece need some prayer right now. My niece Izabella went into the hospital over the weekend with a high fever and diarrhea. The doctors took some blood cultures, spinal tap and x-ray and they found that she has fluid around her kidney and a UTI. Still waiting for more results with the blood culture and spinal tap. They will be putting a pick (not sure how to spell it) but this will help the Dr.'s get blood more often instead of continuous poking for a vein. This pick will have to be put in with surgery. Izabella will not be leaving the hospital for at least 7-10 days and will need to be transported to a Children's Hospital. Please keep my sister Ashley in prayer since she is 21 and her first baby- you can understand the stress, anxiety and fear that would take place. Please pray that she would have the Lord's peace. As for Izabella, please pray for quick recovery and to go home soon. Also pray that my sister would have more discernment with who she let's the baby be held by (sick neighbors). I guess my protective auntie-ness is coming out!

WE HAD A GREAT TRIP TO THE ORPHANAGE YESTERDAY. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THE KIDS AND TO GET AWAY FROM EVERYTHING HERE IN CALIFORNIA. AWAY FROM PEOPLE PROTESTING OVER PROP 8, HERE THEY PROTEST. AND WE HAVE EVERYTHING I GO TO MEXICO AND THEY ARE HAPPY EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NOTHING. ON OUR WAY BACK WE SAW SOME PROTESTERS AND IT MADE ME SO MAD. IF THEY SAW WHAT I JUST SAW MAYBE THEY WOULD ACT DIFFERENTLY. THESE PRECIOUS PRECIOUS KIDS DOWN THERE WERE DRYING THEIR HAIR WITH PAPER TOWELS. BECAUSE THEY NEED A SIMPLE BATH TOWEL DOWN THERE. AND PEOPLE UP HERE PROTEST BECAUSE THEY CAN'T LIVE IN SIN.

I have been encouraged to be worried, afraid, concerned, prepared for disaster, and a whole host of other maladies if this happens. I have not been as active on the internet as I have been, I have been spending alot of time alone, which may or may not be good. Mostly taking care of my infected foot which at this point is still pretty bad, it feel like I am walking on a big rock in my foot and it is still pretty red and swollen, still can not put on a shoe so i have it bandaged and put a sock over it to do my lessons then come home soak it put medicine on it a put it up at night. It really does not look much better I thought it did but the doctor said no.

Like I said about a week ago I have had a major set back with my depression that is why I have been staying away more, just been on enough to let people know I am still around. It has been a real battle and have not said much about it because frankly I don't know how to explain what is going on. Last time I put on here my battle with depression I got a rather strong email saying that I am not trusting God and that I needed to repent of letting depression get ahold of me. No it was not any one who post here on a regular basis.

I have also been doing a lot of reading on forgivness and praying about the attitude of my heart on a cetain issue as some of you know. I want my heart to forgive. And I have said Lord I forgive these two people, but sometimes I feel guilty because I still feel the pain and hurt of it all especially when I see one person. Well anyway I don't want to talk in circles those of you who know me know what i am talking about. But Like I said I do forgive Just have to deal with the feeling i have.

Dear Saddleback Family,

Kay and I, and our entire family are deeply grateful for your prayers for Jaime and her battle with a brain tumor. Below is a brief report of this past week along with the scripture verse I've focused on each day. Thanks for sharing this burden with us. You might want to save these verses for when YOU need them.

SATURDAY

Jaime was hospitalized for blurred vision, instability, and headaches. A CT Scan revealed a massive tumor at the base of her brain.

"Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer." Psalm 94:19 (Living)

SUNDAY

My 25 year old daughter-in-law, Jaime, (Josh's wife) is facing her second life-threatening health crisis in less than two months. Seven weeks ago, Jaime went into labor five weeks early. They discovered the baby was in the breech position and an emergency C-section was ordered because the baby's heart rate began to drop. Cole was not breathing when he was born, and it took great skill from the medical personnel to resuscitate him.

MONDAY

A day for testing. The MRI revealed a very serious and complex vascular tumor and hydrocephalus. There is debate about the type of tumor and much concern about the best procedure to use.

"God will shield you with his wings! They will shelter you. His faithful promises are your armor. Now you don't need to be afraid of the dark any more, nor fear the dangers of the day; nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters in the morning." Psalm 91:4-6 (Living)

TUESDAY

After getting 3 professional opinions on the nature of the tumor, we've moved Jaime to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The UCLA chief of neurosurgery has taken Jaime's case because of its risk and complexity. An angiogram today provided more information but because of the tumor's location and connection to vital blood supply, doctors are unable to perform a procedure they hoped to do before the surgery.

"The righteous do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly." Psalm 112:6-8 (NLT)

WEDNESDAY 10 AM

Jaime was just rolled into the operating room for her 16 hour brain surgery. We now know the premature birth and emergency C-section of Cole likely saved Jaime's life. She could have died pushing in a normal delivery. What we often think is a problem (at that moment) is often a protection.

"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you." Deut. 31:8 (NLT)

WEDNESDAY NIGHT 11 pm

Hour 13 of Jaime's surgery. We are told the tumor is tangled with all of the nerves on the left side of her brain, pushing its way into the brain. We are praying that Jaime's life will be spared, the tumor will be successfully removed, and there will be no damage to her eyesight or permanent loss of movement.

"The prayer that is said with faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will heal that person." James 5:15 (NCV)

THURSDAY 6 AM

After almost 20 hours, Jaime leaves the operating room. She'll now be in recovery for several hours. She may sleep for a couple of days due to the strong anesthesia given.

"When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you." Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)

THURSDAY 10:30 AM

VERY BAD NEWS. A post-op CT Scan shows that Jaime is bleeding internally and building pressure on her brain. This is life-threatening, so doctors must go back to the operating room, reopen the wound, find the cause of the bleeding, and stop it. This will take another 4 ½ hours.

"We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help." 2 Chron. 20:12 (NLT)

THURSDAY 3 PM

The second surgery stops two areas of internal bleeding. The doctor frankly discusses the possible long term damage.

"Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will listen to their cries and comfort them. Psalm 10:17 (NLT)

THURSDAY 5 PM

Josh just got to see Jaime for the first time in 32 hours. It was only 30 seconds but she opened her eyes. She is on a breathing machine and can't speak but can move all four of her extremities. The next 24 hours will be extremely critical. Our family is all worn out too.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

FRIDAY AM

Please pray that Jaime will have a full recovery, with no long-term complications. Pray that her life will be an example of the truth that God's purpose for our lives is greater than any problem we face. Pray the doctors and nurses will be touched by the witness of her life.

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:22

"Pray that our Lord will make us strong and give us peace." Psalm 29:11

"Pray for us that God will give us an opportunity to tell people his message." Colossians 4:3

"I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!" Phil. 4:19

"As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you." 1 Samuel 12:23

Posting these means that I really have nothing to say. or at least nothing to important.

1. The choir invites any member of the congregation who enjoys sinning to join the choir.

2. This afternoon there will be a meeting in the south and north ends of this church. Children will be baptized at both ends.

3. Wednesday the Ladies Literary Society will meet. Mrs. Johnson will sing, "Put me in My Little Bed", accompanied by the Pastor.

4. Thursday at 5 p. m. there will be a meeting of the Little Mothers Club. All wishing to become little mothers will please meet the pastor in the study.

5. The outreach committee has enlisted 25 visitors to make calls on people who are not afflicted with any church.

6. This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Brown to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.

7. The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind and they can be seen in the church basement on Friday afternoon.

8. At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.

10. Evening massage - 6 p. m.

11. The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday morning.

13. Our annual church picnic will be held Saturday afternoon. If it rains, it will be held in the morning.

16. The senior pastor will be away for two weeks. The staff members during his absence you will find pinned to the church notice board.

17. The low Self-Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 to 8:30 p. m. Please use the back door.

18. Ushers will eat latecomers.

19. Women's Group sale of unwanted items. Please bring your husbands.

20. The third verse of "Blessed Assurance" will be sung without musical accomplishment.

21. Would the congregation kindly remember that the box marked 'For the Sick' is for financial contributions only.

22. The vicar is on holiday until the 27th. Local clergy will be celebrating on the Sundays when he is away.

23. Mr. Bradford was elected and has accepted the office of head deacon. We could not get a better man

26. A new loudspeaker system has been installed in the church. It was given by one of our members in honor of his wife.

29. Our young people are preparing the pizza dinner. It will be held in the perish hall.

31. The Ladies Society will be selling their new cookbook at the church supper this Wednesday night. The proceeds will help purchase a stomach pump for our community hospital.

39. Next Sunday a special collection will be taken to defray the cost of the new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the new carpet will come forward and do so.

my back is hurting so bad right now. My brother in law got drunk and started to go after one of the kids and I stepped in and he pushed so hard i went to the floor and really pulled my back. I went to the urgent care and they took xrays and said they believe it is just pulled musles but with my weight a fall like that could of caused more damage then they can see right now he wants me to go for an mri this week,

i HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR AWHILE FOR A NEW PLACE TO LIVE AND NOW THAT THE MAN FROM THE PAST IS HERE IN CA AND THIS HAPPENING. WELL IT IS TIME TO GO. I HAVE BEEN ON THE COMPUTER EVER SINCE I GOT HOME FROM URGENT CARE I AM ON A MISSION TO GET OUT OF HERE.
