A former youth pastor for the Capo Beach Calvary Church was arrested Thursday at his Dana Point home for allegedly having sex with a girl who was part of his junior high school ministry.
Daniel Pedroza Jr., 28, allegedly had sex with a girl between the ages of 14 and 18, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The girl told social workers she and Pedroza had sex between July and November in both of their homes, and the social workers contacted authorities.
Officials at the Capistrano Beach church became aware of the allegation and fired Pedroza, Amormino said.
Prosecutors plan to charge Pedroza with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, two counts of oral copulation, one count of digital penetration, and a misdemeanor charge of child annoying, Amormino said.
A spokesperson for the church could not be reached for comment.
Pedroza was booked into the Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail.

I think with any profession, whether it be voluntary or paid, we must as Christians always be sensitive and aware of how we can cross bounderies, jepordizing ourselves, our profession, our walk with Christ, as well as negatively imapcting the people who we have been serving and whom built trust in us and our position. I pray for the victim and the alleged perpetrator. I think we all take this opportunity to use this as a reminder of how quickly something that started off beautiful, can sadely become something that shows no fruit for the Lord.
I have had both my daughetr and son particpate in the youth and High School ministry at Capo. I still feel secure that with Capos immediate response tot he allegations, they will continue to ensure a safe youth program.
