When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Horatio Spafford penned this song after losing his four daughters in a shipwreck; he was travailing to meet his wife in england, when at the exact spot the ship went down with his girls, the captain woke him and he penned this song.

I have always been amazed at the history behind this song.

To get to that place of complete surrender to the will of God--well I can't imagine that. It is a real inspiration.

The trials in my life-they have been many. Before and after He saved me. The hardest partin my walk is the realization that God has a plan and purpose for everything He allows. I can never even begin to understand this--why so much pain--so much suffering. The Bible says that He is glorified in all things. And He strengthens us and sanctifies us in trials.

Thanks Okie for this.
